     Lite-On Technology (2301-tw) today reported second quarter 2014 consolidated revenue of NT$58.23 billion with growths of 13% Q-o-Q and 16% Y-o-Y. Thanks to a better product mix and higher scale, coupled with improved operating efficiency, the gross margin and operating margin in the second quarter were 13.5% and 4.1%, up 1.1% and 1.4% respectively. Q2 net profits were NT$2.03 billion with EPS of NT$0.88, up 42% Q-o-Q.
     In the first half of 2014, the cumulative consolidated revenue reached NT$109.98 billion with a growth of 14% Y-o-Y; gross margin and operating margin were 13% and 3.4% respectively, of which, high-end core products R&D cost increased approximately 10% Y-o-Y while net profits were NT$3.46 billion with EPS of NT$1.5.
     In the second quarter, stable growth was achieved in all six major applications/products of Lite-On’s core business ― Camera modules, LED Lighting applications, High-end server power systems & enclosures for cloud computing application, Solid state drives (SSD), Automotive electronics and Game consoles ― which accounted for about 50% of Lite-On’s overall revenue with a growth of 45% Y-o-Y.
     The Optoelectronics business segment contributed a 28% share of Lite-On’s overall revenue in the second quarter with a growth of 53% Y-o-Y. This growth was attributable to LED sales growth, coupled with camera modules business’ high megapixel product expansion and smooth delivery, as well as ongoing gains in the global market shares of smartphoness and tablets.
     The Information Technologies business segment accounted for 44% of the total revenue with a growth of 21% Y-o-Y, of which Power Supplies revenue achieved a growth of about 20% Y-o-Y, resulting from increases in global demand for networking devices and server power management systems in cloud computing applications, PC, mobiles devices and game consoles. Meanwhile, thanks to the delivery growth of its laser models, Multi-Function Peripherals presented a revenue expansion of approximately 20% Y-o-Y; HIS (Human Input Solutions - PC keyboards and peripherals) enjoyed a revenue growth of over 20% Y-o-Y, driven by ongoing market share gains as well as the smooth delivery of tablet keyboards, while Enclosure posted a revenue growth of approximately 50% Y-o-Y, driven by the smooth delivery of high-end server enclosure products in Q2.
     Storage business accounted for 17% of total revenue. Thanks to increased end demand for Optical Disk Driver (ODD) for game console application as well as solid end demand and ongoing market share gains of Solid State Drive (SSD), both revenues in Q2 showed growths of over 40% Y-o-Y.
     Looking forward, thanks to increased demand from mobiles devices, LED & lighting, power management systems and game consoles, as well as stable demand from PC markets, continued growths in overall performance are expected in the third quarter.
