Lite-On Technology (2301-tw) today reported second quarter consolidated sales of NT$53.06 billion, up 3% Q/Q. Thanks to the to the sequential growth of IT and Opto-electronics in Cloud Computing, LED/ Outdoor Lighting and High-end Camera Module, gross margin and operating margin were 13.1% and 4.2%, both posting moderate growths sequentially; net profits reached NT$1.77 billion with EPS of NT$0.76. Meanwhile, the net cash position came to NT$31.1 billion through aggressive working capital management as well as a positive free cash flow generated from operation.

In the first half of 2017, supported by stable operations and profitability, the accumulative sales reached NT$104.4 billion, up 1% Y/Y; gross margin and operating margins were 13.1% and 4.1% respectively. Meanwhile, the net profits achieved NT$3.75 billion with EPS of NT$1.61, up 3% Y/Y. In Q2, Opto-electronics contributed a 26% share of total sales, thanks to the growing demand from invisible LED, ongoing market share gains in LED components, smooth delivery of LED vehicle lighting, coupled with increased shipment of high-end smartphones camera modules. Opto-electronics posted a moderate quarterly growth.

The Information Technologies business accounted for 54% of total sales, of which, cloud computing application revenue posted ongoing growth, resulting from increased delivery of server and networking related products. Moreover, shipment growth in laser models of Multi-Function Peripherals also supported Information Technologies to achieve a revenue growth of over 10% Y-o-Y. In the meantime, the Storage segment accounted for 14% of total revenue.

Consecutive growth in the third quarter is expected, mainly from stable demand of Cloud Computing, AI Smart Home devices, LED/Outdoor Lighting, Storage and Gaming applications.
